Apel Beats is guitar driven future-funk for the spontaneous mind and the adventurous booty.
Over the past seven years, Apel (Adam Pelletier) has developed a production style that is entirely his own. Combining mid-tempo future-funk, glitch hop and house beats with blues/jazz/funk guitar lines, Apel outfits groove music with a bulletproof shell
A guitar player since he was 9 years old, Apel spent four years as one of the two guitarists in the Goosepimp Orchestra, which allowed him to hone his guitar sound and open his eyes toward edgy songwriting. From his love for American hip-hop, Apel always knew that he needed a big backbeat to accompany his guitar lines. Apel’s choice to keep emphasis on guitar-made melodies, solos, and sound effects while creating EDM are what truly separate his sound from the sample-based production styles of other electro-soul producers.
Substratum EP, released May 4th 2016, is Apel Beats’ fifth studio project. Much time is spent developing and composing his studio works, each one charting his progress and showcasing his production skills.
On stage, Apel stays true to his hybrid style. He DJs and manipulates beats while live-looping and performing his guitar lines from scratch.
Playing opening slots for the Eric Krasno Band, Exmag, Goosepimp Orchestra, Cloudchord, and Turbo Suit, Apel has positioned himself as a prominent force in the New England music scene.
